Gwyn Hooper is currently employed as the principal consultant for Aqueous Chemistry Consultancy, having worked for a number of national and international chemical companies, which used or supplied chemicals and consultancy on the use of those chemicals, into a wide-range of water-using industries. Major customers included chemical, power, service and manufacturing industries.
In his current and previous roles, he has developed many formulations and protocols, to solve customer problems. He has had experience of procurement (purchasing), production, distribution and technical use of the chemicals, quality assurance (ISO 9000), health and safety, maintenance, technical development and technical support to sales.
He has worked on refineries, Petro-chemical plants (e.g. nylon, aromatics, ethylene cracker, olefine, acrylate, acrylonitrile, methanol, phenol, oil gasification), pharmaceutical plants, food processing plants, power plants, hospitals and fertiliser plants (ammonia, nitric acid, sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid), as well as facilities management. He has experience in pre-treatment, cooling, boiler, steam, hygiene, and effluent technologies.
He is, in his own right, acknowledged as an expert in Industrial Water Treatment, having published papers in the UK and Poland, worked for the United Nations in India and been active in the Water Management Society in the UK, of which he is a Fellow.
He has travelled considerably, throughout Europe, to visit customers to troubleshoot plants and advise on optimum solutions to water, effluent and process technology problems, looking at technical and best economic solutions.
